The Year Ahead: Four Steps to Success in 2019

The New Year is undoubtedly a peak time for self-reflection, in which we make promises to ourselves of what we’re going to do to make the year ahead a success.  But what exactly does this mean?

To ensure your new year intentions don’t go down the drain, here’s what you need to know to set yourself up for a successful 2019:

1. Define success

One person’s version of success can differ greatly to another’s, so the first thing you need to do is get clear on what your version of success looks and feels like.

2. Review your goals

How do your goals (promises/intentions) fit into your definition of success?  It’s important to acknowledge that your goals may not be brand new, but rather a continuation of what you started in the previous year.  If you find yourself coming up with a roundabout way of aligning any goals with your definition of success, then it’s best to sideline them, as this is often a sign that they won’t stick.

3. Prioritise

If you have more than one goal on your list, then it’s time to prioritise them.  As this will enable you to focus your time and energy on the goal/s that are best going to serve you on your journey to success.

4. Make the commitment

Break down your goal(s) into achievable actions across the year and place these in your calendar.  These don’t need to be exhaustive, just the key points/steps you need to take over the year in order to achieve them by the time 31 December rolls around.  As the year progresses, grace and flexibility may come into play as your goals change, or unforeseen circumstances cause you to push some steps back.  Take comfort in knowing that both of these are really positive actions, as they demonstrate progress as opposed to stagnation.

As you start to set yourself up for a successful new year, we’d love to support your journey on a deeper level.  Check out our programs, training, mentoring and shop to see whether any of these align with your goals, and cheers to achieving your peak in 2019.
